There should be full respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty

Addressing the 16th BRICS summit in Kazan, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar raised the issue of respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty. Along with security, the Foreign Minister also focused on reforms in international institutions like the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Jaishankar said that for this, first of all the platform of independent nature will have to be strengthened and expanded. By broadening the options and reducing unnecessary dependencies across different domains that can be availed.

India gave the example of its presidency of G-20 for reforms. Jaishankar said India started an effort during its G20 presidency and we are happy to see Brazil take it forward.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said, “Effectively addressing conflicts and tensions is the special need of the day. Prime Minister Modi has emphasized that this is not an era of war.

This economic, political and cultural rebalancing has now reached the point where we can contemplate multi-polarity."
